Swakopmund lies between the water and the sand with the Strandhotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Location and hotel are a welcome relief for the desert hardeened eye of the road rattled torurist. Swakopmund seemed to be the most „German“ town in Namibia. The Strandhotel is a relatively new hotel in Swakopmund with no dedicated pool; the pool ist the ocean and it offers seals, freshness, relaxation and of course the unavoidable the beach merchants. The rooms we booked were facing the Atlantic Ocean, one was a corner room with windows to each side: perfect! Thanks for the upgrade to this georgeous room. We actually felt like being treated like royals, although we looked stirred and shaken after 7 hours on Namibias roads. The staff actually made us really feel special. We used the excellent seafood restaurant and enjoyed the overboarding breakfast. We had to share some stuff with birds, but, hey, there was plenty of food, why not share... We also used the massage services with almost all massages being excellent, only 1 was lost in translation. Strandhotel provides a perfect place to start you stroll around the city and along the beaches. It is definitely not the most inexpensive option for a saty in Swakopmund, but doubtlessly worth staying. Recommendation: Yes; Value for money: yes, although upper range.

I have been to 63 countries. The staff reception here and one other place in Cape Town, South Africa were tied for the absolutely best and most friendly staff at reception of any place in the world! Every time we walked in from shopping or eating or walking about we were recognized and genuinely welcomed. I repeat, GENUINELY welcomed! The staff spoke to us in various locations with various recommendations. We were treated better than family! The location was fantastic. We slept with the balcony door open to listen to the waves as we slept. The ocean view was well worth the price. Parking was easy and free. Security at the hotel and the parking lot was superb. The luggage handler was a consummate professional both coming and leaving. The breakfast kitchen staff were super friendly and accomodating. If there is one place I had to live in Namibia it would be Swakopmund! If there was one hotel for me to stay in at Swakopmund it would be this hotel! We walked to safe shopping. We walked to safe restaurants. According to the local merchants there is a huge shoplifting problem there so may stores “buzz” you to let you in. I maintained situational awareness and no one ever tried to pickpocket us or steal a purse.

Thomas, the porter, welcomed us and offered us drinks while we were being checked in. Good first impression. We found all staff, including restaurant reception and waiters to be super attendant and friendly. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide variety on offer, even included customized freshly extracted juice mixtures and freshly made flapjack pancakes. Warm breakfast was delicious. Dinner at the steak and beer restaurant was excellent, and we were particularly impressed with the friendly can-do attitude of the maitre 'd. The spa treatments were very good - Bernadette knows her stuff!

This hotel and its staff are wonderful. The linens and towels are top quality. The room was beautifully decorated and had a great view of the water. The restaurant was delicious, and the breakfast was next level. I don't actually eat in the morning, but I did here. They had vegetables and fruit that could be blended for a fresh juice, incredible pastries, meats and cheeses, pancakes, cereal--everything. The location was central and within walking distance of bars, restaurants, bakeries, and museums. Parking was easy and free.

Rachel

We loved the location of the hotel, it was perfect for a couple of nights stopover for some R&R. It was comfortable, clean and convenient in terms of distance from the local shops and restaurants/ beer houses. Also, right on the beach! Ps. The staff were super friendly!
